Rantaraitti – the most popular jogging trail in the city
There is a route in front of Hotel Alba that goes around Lake Jyväsjärvi. Route is called Rantaraitti and is the most popular jogging trail in the city. Rantaraitti offers a piece of nature in the middle of the city and it’s a great way to get to know the nature of central Finland. Along the route there is a bird tower, many beaches, outdoor gyms and the port of Jyväskylä. During the winter, you can also skate around Jyväsjärvi. You can go ice skating from the port of Jyväskylä or from Hotel Alba’s own pier. In summer you can borrow a bicycle from the hotel Alba’s reception and cycle around the lake. Rantaraitti route leghts are 1,5km, 5km and 12km.
Toivola Old Courtyard – an atmospheric place that offers a piece of history
Toivola’s old yard is a rare piece of Jyväskylä’s old wooden town and it’s located one kilometer from Hotel Alba. In Toivola’s old courtyard, you can have a coffee, dine and visit various boutiques and museum. You can find more information about Toivola’s old yard here
Aalto2 museum center – get to know Alvar Aalto and his work
Aalto2 is a museum center that opened in the spring of 2023, where you can get to know Aalto’s work and life. The museum center is located just a five-minute walk from Hotel Alba. Finnish sauna – important part of Finnish culture
In Finland saunas are used – a lot. The traditional sauna day is Saturday, but the sauna at Hotel Alba is warm every day. The sauna department has been renovated in the spring of 2023 so we really recommend getting to know Finnish sauna in our hotel.
